Built high on the bluffs of La Jolla Shores this Friehauf Architects custom design is extra special. Lots of wood, vertical grain clear douglas fir to be exact. Nothing store bought here, everything in this home was custom made by us for our client. The gallery has natural slate tile flooring laid in a French versile pattern which flows seamlessly through the front entry.

The guest bedrooms have bamboo floors, walk-in closets and each has its own private bath. Patagonian rosewood floors throughout the home have maple inlays to define the imagination.

A grand Brazilian cherry and stainless steel staircase carry you up to the master suite which has incredible ocean views. At the top of the stairs you will be amazed by the 8 foot high indoor waterfall which glides over Volga blue granite inlayed with a world map. Japanese shoji doors line the gallery wall and are illuminated from behind for a glowing effect. There is a koi pond which starts in the courtyard and travels inside the house, passing through the front entry and outside again wrapping its way around the colonnades which support the entry cover.

Inside the home there is an indoor spa complete with vanishing edge and flagstone coping. This very special room can easily become and outdoor spa by opening the custom made one-of-a-kind 12 foot long pocket door. This special door disappears into the wall and the room instantly becomes part of the beautiful garden courtyard.
